Biography:
Sammi Cheng is
a beautiful popular singer in Hong Kong. Her career began when she won
a singing contest at the age of seventeen, and afterward immediately signed
up with Capital Artist. Her movie career began in 1992 with "The
Best of the Best," which starred actor and pop idol Jacky Cheung.
With music being her main focus, she did not return to the acting stage
until 1996, opposite actor and pop idol Ekin Cheng in the manga-inspired
hit romantic comedy "Feel 100%." In the sequel, her longtime secret
lover (actor and singer Andy Hui) appears onscreen with her for the very
first time.
During this
time, Sammi Cheng signed with Warner Music and was able to succeed in claiming
the throne of "Heavenly Queen" from a semi-retired (and very pregnant)
Faye Wong. In 1997, she worked with pop idol Leon Lai on "Killing
Me Tenderly" and starred in the New Year hit, "The Lucky Guy" with Steven
Chow in 1998. "Needing You" which co-starred pop idol Andy Lau became
a big hit upon its release. Recently, Sammi has become as popular
in the film industry as she is in the music industry.
