Woo is known for his balletic action sequences, then Ringo Lam is known
for his gritty, realistic, "take no prisoner" approach to violence.
He is most well known to US audiences as the director of "Maximum Risk"
and "The Replicant" starring Jean-Claude Van Damme. He has garnered
a cult following with his films, "Full Contact" and "City On Fire," both
starring Chow Yun Fat. If you have heard of the latter film, it is
no surprise, as "City On Fire" is famous for inspiring Quentin Tarantino's
"Reservoir Dogs."
